Two 'fer #2 - Extended Cheeseland stay
Opportunities abound in Appleton, would you believe it? Here is photographic evidence. The results of another double exciting time and double duty blog.
Yesterday Bozo and friends took in a game of the 2016 NCAA D-III Baseball Tournament at the Timber Rattlers AAA ballpark. It's a real nice field. Looks a lot like the Cactus League parks, just smaller and w/ fewer concessions. Since it was an NCAA event there was no beer. OMG!!! Not quite what some of the fans were expecting. We caught the 11 AM game at 3:00 PM. This entire week they've been hit heavy by rain delays. Put on the tarp, take it off, put it back on and repeat. We caught one of the quarter final games, between Trinity U from San Antonio and SUNY Cortland. Great game, won by Trinity. We stayed to watch the first couple innings of the Laroche/ Keystone colleges' game. This one was supposed to be the 2:15 starter but didn't get going till 5!!!. It was a looooong night for Cortland, losing meant they had to play UW-La Crosse in an elimination game last night. Not sure when that hooter got but the local paper reported that Cortland got through w/ the win. Highlight of the day. We found Alexandria & Nicole, Quarry Bute, at the local grocery for less than we pay as members at the winery. Hella deal. Scored two, naturally.
Today we headed to Green Bay so Bozo could check off another local landmark. That's why there's photos of LamBeauzo in front of the stadium, a LamBeauzo Leap w/ the popular statue out front, and VinBozo where he's posed worshipping at the feet of St. Vince Lombardi. Well, he's a saint around here. Ask any cheesehead fan of the Pack. For Seattle fans the Lambeau Leap statue is similar in popular culture to our Waiting for the Interurban or the Fremont Troll.
Took advantage of our trip to the park to eat at their 1919 Kitchen & Tap. They are located in the stadium off the Atrium. Good selection of brews and a decent menu. I had the Venison Sloppy Joe, Cath had the Apple/chicken salad and my sister and brother-in-law had a couple of the flatbread pizzas. They have an almost-full bar. No Compari, though so no Nigroni for me. That's worth a star or two less in my book.
